Bristol Number Plates
Number Plate Types Available in Bristol
Sometimes, different cars call for different plates. Some drivers want something simple and practical, while others would rather give their car a little something extra.
The go-to choice for everyday driving. They’re clean, durable and road-compliant, making them ideal for replacing worn or damaged plates.
Raised, glossy characters give your registration a little more depth and a premium appearance without going too far.
Cut acrylic characters create a sharper, more modern finish. They’re a popular choice for newer cars.
Available for qualifying historic vehicles, these offer the traditional black-and-silver appearance associated with classic cars.
Ideal for car shows, photography, events or garage displays. Show plates are for display purposes and aren’t road-compliant for use on public roads.
Do I Really Need a New Number Plate?
Your number plates do more than display your registration. They need to remain clear and readable throughout the years.
A damaged or faded plate can become difficult to read, while cracked or deteriorating plates can cause problems when your vehicle is being inspected.
If you’re replacing your car number plates in Bristol, it’s worth choosing a quality option that’s made for regular use. Plate Mate offers a range of finishes, so you can choose something practical or use the opportunity to give your car a bit of an upgrade.
Whether you’re driving through the city centre, heading along the A38 or tackling the M32 during rush hour, your plates should be built to withstand everyday use.
We Also Provide Custom Number Plates
Want something a little more personal? Custom number plates can be a great way to change the appearance of your car without making any permanent modifications.
A private registration can give your vehicle a more individual feel, while 3D and 4D characters offer a more distinctive finish than standard plates.
You can also create custom show plates for:
- Car shows and events
- Garage displays
- Photography
- Gifts
- Automotive businesses
- Personal projects
If you’re creating plates for use on public roads, make sure you select a road-compliant design. Show plates are intended for display and shouldn’t be used on public roads.
What Do Bristol Number Plates Look Like?
Bristol number plates follow the standard UK registration format, with two letters, two numbers and three further letters.
You might see a registration such as BD24 ABC, where the first two letters identify the area in which the vehicle was originally registered, the two numbers indicate when it was registered, and the final three letters are randomly assigned.
Bristol has traditionally been associated with registrations using the W area identifier, with combinations such as WA, WB, WC, WD, WE and WF appearing on vehicles registered in the area. However, registrations aren’t permanently tied to where a vehicle is kept, so a car with a Bristol-area registration could now be anywhere in the UK.
The important thing is that the registration itself doesn’t change simply because you move to Bristol or buy a car from somewhere else. Your vehicle keeps its assigned registration unless you choose to transfer or change it.
